Kia ora
I'm Nige Ward (Ngāti Raukawa / Ngāti Rangiteaorere).
I studied traditional 2D hand-drawn animation in the mid-90s under Disney film legend John Ewing and now I spend my days bringing characters to life.
where it began
Since my teens, I have been making animated cartoons for TV shows, music videos, commercials and web games, freelancing around the globe and working in studios.
teaching
After 3 years teaching at Animation College Auckland, I established the first satellite campus in Rotorua. I took care of management duties for a further 3 years, while tutoring the initial cohort right through their Level 7 Digital Media Diploma.
My latest work
Recently I have discovered a passion for creating Māori animation - for children, as well as cartoons aimed at grown-up audiences.
